The Last Voyage
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH
Bayview Yacht Club to Port Huron
Cheeseburgers, beer and rhum, music, cheer and fun!
The last voyage of the season
For the yacht with such a great reason
This was the year of the Monkey
That saw so many get Drunkee
All summer long, it’s been Rhum, Rhum, Rhum
Now that the season is getting stormy and dark
And before the crew scatters and become land sharks
Its time to say good bye to Tony, Steve, Rich, and Jerome
The yacht needs to make one more run to her winter home
One last reason to drink some Rhum, Rhum, Rhum
After four months, seven races and endless amount of Captain Morgan the Yacht Comfortably Numb captured first place honors for the Bayview Yacht Club Thirsty Night at the Races, for the second year in a row. The crew proved that Comfortably Numb dominates the waters off Bayview and the bar inside. The crew would like to thank Rich and Steve for all their hard work behind the bar and for always pointing us in the right direction. Mark Miller would like to thank every sailor that came out and helped sail the Numb boat. He is dedicating this year effort to the people at Jackson-Dawson for their indefatigable hard work at making sure the cooler was always full and that the Rhum never ran dry. Let us give an exclamation of joy and the warmest congratulations to all the sailors who came out and race this series aboard Comfortably Numb. The Year of the Monkey is almost over, but this crew will probably never sober up!
On a personal note, I would just like to say… Thank god for little sailing girls named Kate! Some how it makes the world make sense to me…

By Charlie Juby:
As for the partying, well let’s just say what happens on the island stays on the island. Just kidding… you will be hearing about the Put in Bay all summer long… As one of our crew put it last night at the debriefing at the Bayview Bar, it was the best three days of my life! We have some great pictures of the race, the party and all the mayhem of the weekend; the pictures will be on the boat for Tuesday and Thursday night sailing. Watch for a special Mills Cup edition of Charlie’s World, coming next week!
Comfortably Numb Wins Toledo Blade Trophy
for fastest elapsed time
and takes 3rd place corrected time in the Mills Cup Presidents Trophy Course
Joe Sosnowski's Four of Hearts finished 5th
in class and 18th out of 31
Not bad for his first time!
A note from Charlie about the Mills Weekend:
Congratulations are in order for the crew of the Numb boat. “Camp Numb” as it was dubbed over the weekend, survived eight foot waves, two major rum fronts, Jenny’s singing and the Lake Erie flies to pick up a Third Place flag. Job well done. The second entry of the Numb Sailing Syndicate didn’t do as well, but first time entry, Four of Harts, sailed with heart! With more than 50% of the crew seasick, she finished the race, which not all the boats did. The Four of Harts didn’t get a flag but nor did she came in last. Better luck next year!

Coming Soon!
The 2004 Season
THE BOAT IS IN THE WATER STAY TUNED FOR ANOTHER YEAR OF FUN WITH THE CREW OF COMFORTABLY NUMB
Yes you read this correctly we are planning on going sailing on Thanksgiving day. Rain or shine or should I say Snow Brrrrr. Hey, if the Lions can attempt to play football why can't we go sailing? Let me know if you are in. Boat time will be 11:30am. We will have a few cocktails to warm us up and then sail down the river to the bridge and back.
Go Lions!
Don't forget the GPSC awards on Friday November 7th!
For more info go to the GPSC website.
Charlie and I really screwed up the first weekends races not knowing the correct number legs to sail causing us to throw away a first place finish in the first race. We managed two strong finishes the following Saturday finishing first in the last race.
Check out the results at the GPSC website.
Don't forget Jessica's going away party this Friday Night. Call Charlie for more info. Jessica, We love you we'll miss you and good luck in Colorado. See you at next years Mac race!
Look who made the cover of Sports and Fitness magazine!
It's our very own Jessica Kleinhardt.
The picture is of her trimming the spinnaker aboard Comfortably Numb during this years Mackinac Race. There's also a picture of Mary and others accompanied by a great article written by our Fox Videographer Byron Goggin.
NOTICE FROM CREW CHIEF OF
COMFORTABLY NUMB
ATTENTION ALL TUESDAY NIGHT
CREW:
There will be no more
Captain Morgan’s served on Comfortably Numb before, during or after All Tuesday
Night Races. You are welcome to all the beer you can drink but the Captain stays
in the bottle.
REASON: There is no way that a 3 mile race that starts at 6:00 pm
should end at 2:30 am. It is the pirate Captain Morgan that is to blame for
getting to work late on Wednesday and feeling ‘Oh so un-COMFORTABLY NUMB’ all
day!
I second that emotion. I also think that Blow-carting is now also outlawed. If one feels the need for riding bikes around the parking lot of Bayview Yacht Club in the wee hours of the morning…they should be fully padded and wear helmets. Hence, my face. I volunteer to be the first poster child.

Numb on Fox SportsCheck out the Crew during the Mackinac Race on Fox Sports Net Detroit. Three segments will air on their nightly news program at 10pm running from August 5th-7th. The show will also repeat throughout the following day.
Maybe we will be discovered? Actually I hope we didn't embarrass ourselves to much!
Comfortably Numb had it's best finish in it's 5th Mackinac Race finishing 3rd in class and 3rd overall.
Mary also took down the moose but you will have to wait for the next installment of Charlie's world for that story.
To hear more about the race visit the Mac Race 2003 page and to see a gallery of pictures click here.
Byron Goggin a reporter and videographer from Fox Sports Detroit will be sailing with us in the Port Huron to Mackinac Race July 19th. He will be producing a three or four part series that should appear on their news show shortly after the race.
Should be interesting!
July 2nd
Numb Wins last race and finishes 2nd in series
The Numb crew did an awesome job and finished out the last race of the GPSC Tuesday night spring race series with am impressive come from behind 1st place. We finished the series with an DNS, 1st, cancelled, 2nd, DNS (nobody started correctly) and a 1st. Considering we had only three races to count finishing 2nd is pretty darn good..
June 18th
Port Huron to Mackinaw Race is only a month away!
June 17th
June 10th
GPYC Race Cancelled
June 6th 7th and 8th Mills Cup Weekend
I think I'm still recovering from this one. We didn't finish in the money for the first time in three years. We had a little navigational error near the finish. We could have blamed this one on Wild Bill but he wasn't there. Ok, let's blame him for not showing!
The may or may not have results at The Mills Cup
I think we have some interesting pictures and other stuff coming so stay tuned.

We're on a roll! Took another 2nd place finish. This time it was in the GPSC Tuesday night series. We were the first to finish but we were corrected over by a smaller boat in our class.
First BYC Thursday Night Beer Can Race!

What a crew!
2nd place! Not bad for a bunch of rookies
